Indonesia has to build a new airport

JAKARTA--International Civil Aviation Organization sees Indonesian aviation industry has shown significant progress, but the organization suggests the Government to build a new airport and improve flight safety.

General Secretary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Raymond Benjamin said it has conducted a survey on the development of the aviation industry in the country.

"It is an official visiting. We see an improvement in the Indonesian aviation industry, given the need to continue better improvement over the development of aviation industry in the Asia Pacific, as the industry growth is very good, both in domestic and international flights,” he said in a visiting to PT GMF AeroAsia in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, today (1/21).

He explained the progress is the security and flight safety as well as the regulation for the airline operators.

Benjamin underlined that Indonesia must immediately clean in terms of improving the airport infrastructures.

The development of the airport is very important because the passenger growth is higher than the growth of infrastructure in the national aviation industry.

“Indonesia has to build new airport, such as in Bali. It is a big challenge ahead APEC Meeting in next September.” (t03/tw)
