Three Airports Development Project to Complete This Year

JAKARTA— At least three international airports development in eastern Indonesia is targeted to complete this year to boost capacity.

PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I Commisioner, Suratto Siswodihardjo said the airports are Sepinggan in Balikpapan, Juanda in Surabaya, and Ngurah Rai in Denpasar.

According to him, the airports become the Company’s priority development throughout this year.

Ngurah Rai airport is expanded and enhanced its support facility along with Sepinggan airports, while Juanda’s terminal 2 is being built to increase capacity.

Particurlary for Ngurah Rai airports, Suratto expected to finish it in May as it needs to be trialed for 3 months prior to APEC meeting.

APEC meeting is scheduled will hold in Nusa Dua, Bali on 1 October- 8 October.

 “We are building three aiports, we expected Ngurah Rai aiport to complete on May before APEC, while in Balikpapan estimated to complete by year end,” he said, Wednesday (1/23).

Suratto explained after those three airports AP I will continue the development to other airports.

The airports development project plan are new terminals development and support facilities at Ahmad Yani Airports, Semarang and terminal renovation at Syamsudin Noor Airport, Banjarmasin.

AP I Management to invest IDR6.02 trillion which derived from internal cash and bank loans to develop a number of airports during 2011-2014. (msw)
